Conferences/Seminars/Workshops on social problems encountered by the society are usually organized to provide common platform to different sections of the society viz social workers/reformers, experts and administrators to discuss a chosen theme and arrive at conclusions and recommendations for consideration of the concerned authorities. To achieve this objects, the AICURD has so far organised seminars/workshops on prevention of Atrocities on Women at Delhi, Role of Voluntary Organisations in Rural Development at Kolkata, National Seminar of Non-governmental Organisations on Integration through Development at Delhi, National Seminars on SC/ST Women’s Education at Delhi, Jhallore(Rajasthan), Siddhi (M.P.) and Gaya (Bihar),GATT and weaker Sections at Delhi, Conference on NGOS of West Bengal at Kolkata, Workshop on creation of Awareness of Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation at Hooghly (W.B.), Workshop on AIDS Control at Mandi (H.P.), Workshop of the Office Bearers and Functionaries of NGOs at Jammu (J&K), Workshop on Skill Development of the Beneficiaries and Functionaries of NGOs at Jalpaiguri (W.B.) to meet the emerging social challenges to fulfil social responsibilities.
Social scientist and community workers have from time to time raised various issues relating to social welfare and development. The issue deliberated upon at different levels have suggested the need for close involvement of NGOs in nation building programmes. On the basis of deliberations, priorities have been fixed and NGOs have been invited to play meaningful role to achieve the best possible results. The AICURD since its inception has been striving to promote voluntarism, self reliance, and maximum outreach to uncovered, subserviced areas. It has undertaken such programmes which directly benefit the neglected sections of society. Its aim is to supplement the Government developmental programmes. It propagates the concepts of National unity and it tries to achieve multiplier effect of growth and socially conducive conditions for peace and prosperity of the nation.
