- For socio-economic progress of the SC and AT communities,
- Special budget provisions have been made in successive plans formulated by the Central Government to assess the impact of the plan projects. Studies have been conducted by AICURD in the districts to Jalpaiguri and Purulia (W.B), Dumka (Bihar), Nizamabad, Mehboob Nagar and Krishna (Andhra Pradesh). These studies were conducted to assess the magnitude of the existing socio-economic problems of the SC and ST communities and to suggest measures for their accelerated upliftment. Besides, a study sponsored by CIL was conducted to assess the impact of development on the indigenous people residing in local bearing areas in Maharashtra.
